Dress Code

Why is Dress Code so important?

* Safety- number one reason for establishing a dress code is for all students safety. Having on a leotard and tights with hair pulled back allows the teacher to see that the student is using the right muscles and alignment to prevent injuries.

* Modesty- At DDS we want every student to feel good about trying their best in class. Following the dress code helps us make sure everyone is appropriately covered .... but not so covered that their movement is restricted! We want students to feel confident and we can do that by making sure they are comfortable with what they are wearing in the studio.

* Respect- Dress code is one way students can show respect to their peers and teachers. It demonstrates an understanding of how a dance class operates, with minimal distractions. It shows the students are prepared to learn.

Here at Diamond Dance Studio we take pride in our Dress Code. We can answer any questions you may have! Dress is required to participate in class.

Baby Diamond (ballet): 3-5 Year olds:

Light Pink Leotard, pink tights, skirt (optional)

Shoes: Pink Ballet Slippers

Hair: Bun

Intro T/B (tap & ballet): Kindergarten -2nd Grade:

Light Blue Leotard, Pink tights, skirt (optional)

Shoes: Pink Ballet Slippers and Black Patent Tap shoes with Tap Buttons

Hair: Bun

Intro Jazz: Kindergarten- 2nd Grade:

Light Blue Leotard, Black Jazz Pants or Dance Shorts

Shoes: Black slip-on Jazz Shoe

Hair: Bun or Ponytail

Ballet 1: 3rd grade - 5th grade:

Burgundy Leotard, Pink tights, skirt (optional)

Shoes: Pink Ballet Slippers

Hair: Bun

Tap 1: 3rd grade - 5th grade:

Burgundy Leotard, Pink tights, Black Jazz pants or shorts (optional)

Shoes: Black Tap shoe

Hair: Bun or Ponytail

Jazz 1: 3rd grade - 5th grade:

Burgundy Leotard, Pink tights, Black Jazz pants or shorts (optional)

Shoes: Black Slip-on jazz shoe

Hair: Bun or Ponytail

Intro HH/ Hip-Hop 1: Kindergarten- 5th grade:

Tank top or T-Shirt, Black pants any style (No Jeans)

Shoes: Sneakers of any color (Only to be worn on studio floor)

*Teacher will indicate shoe for recital

Hair: Ponytail

Lyrical 1: 3rd-5th grade:

Burgundy Leotard, Pink tights

Shoes: Tan Dance Paws

Hair: Bun or Ponytail

Ballet 2: 6th grade and up:

Black Leotard, pink tights, wrap skirt (optional)

Shoes: Pink canvas ballet slippers

Hair: Bun

Tap 2: 6th grade and up:

Black Leotard, Pink tights, Black Jazz pants or shorts (optional)

Shoes: Black Lace up Tap shoe (No patent)

Hair: Bun or Ponytail

Jazz/ Lyrical 2: 6th grade and up:

Black Leotard, pink tights

Shoes: Black slip on jazz shoes

Hair: Bun or Ponytail
